Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Training & Ongoing Support
You don’t need to know how to sweep a chimney before you join Flint Chimney Sweep. You need to be willing to learn a trade, follow a system, and show up on time. We teach the rest. Every new owner goes through a structured onboarding program that starts the day you sign and continues through your launch and beyond. If you’ve never held a chimney brush, that’s fine. Most of our owners hadn’t either. What matters is that you want to run a real business the right way, and you’re ready to work inside a standard that’s been refined since 2002. We’ll show you how.
Initial Training
Your first weeks with us are about building a foundation you can stand on. Training starts with our core operational playbook: how we answer the phone, how we book jobs, how we price, and how we deliver The Garrison Standard on every single call. You’ll learn the trade from the ground up. That means understanding chimney anatomy, how creosote forms, what a flue liner does, how to spot deterioration, and when a repair is warranted versus when a cleaning is all the customer needs. We keep the technical training grounded in the real products we use in the field: DuraFlex liners, HeatShield resurfacing, Gelco, Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield components. You’ll know what each one is for and why we specify them by job, not by margin.
You’ll also get hands-on time with the software we use for scheduling, customer records, and invoicing. The systems are built so a new owner can pick them up quickly, even without a background in home services. From there we move into hiring and marketing. We show you what to look for in technicians, how to run background checks, and how to build a small local team that takes pride in the work. Marketing training covers the fundamentals: how to talk about the service without overselling, how to follow up, and how to keep your local reputation square with the standard the brand has worked under since 2002.
Launch Support
Opening the doors is where most new business owners lose sleep. We built our launch process to remove as much of that guesswork as possible. Before your first job hits the board, we walk you through local marketing setup: how your location gets listed, how the brand presents itself in your market, and how to make the phone ring without sounding like every other home service outfit in town. The lead engine is part of the support you get. We help you route incoming calls from the start so you’re not waiting for business to find you. That includes guidance on local search, directory presence, and the kind of plain, honest messaging that works for homeowners who are tired of no-shows and moving prices.
Then comes the first-jobs coaching. Your first few weeks in the field are supervised more closely, with direct access to operators who have been down this road. We help you work through real situations: a tight opening, an older liner with question marks, a homeowner asking for price over the phone. You’ll learn how to deliver a written price before any work starts, every time, no exceptions. You’ll practice the conversation where you explain that the number on the invoice is the number they approved. That discipline is the brand. We coach it until it’s automatic.
Ongoing Support
Support doesn’t end when your first job closes. Here’s what continues after launch:
- Field coaching and technical support. When you run into a chimney situation you haven’t seen before, you’re not guessing. Experienced operators are available to walk you through it.
- Marketing and lead generation help. Ongoing guidance on local campaigns, customer follow-up, and keeping your market visible without overspending.
- Vendor and materials access. You get the benefit of established relationships with professional-grade trade suppliers, including DuraFlex, HeatShield, Gelco, Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield.
- Technology and scheduling systems. Continuous updates to the software you use for jobs, invoices, and customer history, so your operations stay tight.
- National brand campaigns. Brand-level visibility that supports every independent location and keeps the Flint name working for your local business.
- The Garrison Standard reviews and improvement process. Regular check-ins on operations, pricing discipline, and service quality, so the standard doesn’t drift.
