Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Hank Delano leads our East Hartford crews, and he runs every job on one rule: nothing gets recommended unless the camera proves it. No scare tactics. No surprise add-ons at the door.
Why Flint Chimney Sweep Is East Hartford’s Preferred Chimney Sweep Company
East Hartford homeowners call us because we put the whole job in writing before a tool comes off the truck. You’ll know the price, the scope, and the guarantee terms before we start. That’s the Garrison Standard, the operating code every Garrison Partners location follows, and it’s why our technicians show up uniformed, background-checked, and ready to explain exactly what they’re doing.
Our East Hartford customers tell us the same thing after every visit: the crew arrived when they said they would, the price on the invoice matched the price on the estimate, and the fireplace didn’t leave a mess behind. We’ve been in business since 2002 as part of the Garrison Partners family, and we stand behind every repair with the 365-Day Done Right Promise, a written guarantee valid for a full year. If a covered repair fails, we return at no charge.
Local knowledge matters here. East Hartford’s housing stock shifts from 1920s mill-era brick chimneys to post-war ranches with prefab flues, sometimes on the same street. A crew that only knows one liner type will get it wrong on the other. We match the brush to the liner every time, and we explain why it matters.
Fireplace Cleaning in East Hartford
Fireplace cleaning in East Hartford means more than running a brush up the flue. A proper job starts with a camera scan of the firebox, damper, smoke chamber, and liner, then moves to matching the right brush to the surface: a poly brush for prefab or HeatShield-coated liners, a rotary brush for bare masonry. After the sweep, you get a photo report showing what we found and what we did.
What the Cleaning Covers
We remove creosote, soot, and any nesting debris from the firebox through the smoke chamber and up the full flue run. In East Hartford’s older Burnside and Hockanum brick chimneys, the smoke chamber is where first-degree creosote piles up thickest, so we spend extra time there. The firebox gets vacuumed, the damper checked for smooth operation, and the cap inspected from the roof.
When East Hartford Homeowners Book a Sweep
Most East Hartford homeowners book once a year, before the first burn. If you burn more than two cords a season or the fireplace gets used four-plus nights a week from November through March, a mid-season sweep in January can keep air moving clean. A fireplace cleaning in East Hartford runs $180 to $280 depending on flue height and creosote load, and that price is locked in writing before we start.
Chimney Services in East Hartford
Our Chimney Repair - East Hartford services cover the full range: sweep, inspection, and repair, all done with the same written pricing and photo documentation. We perform Level 1 inspections on every visit at no extra charge, and Level 2 inspections when the home has changed hands, the chimney has been dormant, or something looks off on the camera pass. Repairs are quoted line by line, with a written guarantee valid for one full year.
Level 1 and Level 2 Inspections
A Level 1 inspection is the visual check that happens during every sweep: flue condition, damper operation, crown and cap integrity. A Level 2 inspection adds a camera scan of the entire flue interior and the accessible exterior, and runs $200 to $400 in East Hartford. We recommend Level 2 any time a home changes ownership or a chimney has sat unused through several Connecticut winters.
Repairs with a Written Guarantee
If the camera finds a cracked crown, a rusted damper, or a damaged flue liner, we show you the footage, explain the repair in plain English, and hand you a written quote. Nothing gets recommended that the camera can’t back up. Flue relining (replacing the inner liner that channels smoke safely out of the house) with HeatShield or a DuraFlex liner is the most common repair we quote in East Hartford, and every repair carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise.

Trusted Brands We Service in East Hartford
We install and work with professional-grade chimney products from HeatShield, Gelco, Olympia Chimney, and Famco. That matters when you’re replacing a crown or relining a flue: these are products with manufacturer ratings and documented performance, not whatever was cheapest at the supply house. For East Hartford homeowners, stocking these brands locally means a cap replacement or crown repair doesn’t wait on a backordered part. We can usually move from inspection to confirmed repair plan in a single visit, with the product name and specification right on the quote so you can verify it independently.
Common Chimney Sweep Problems We See in East Hartford Homes
- Freeze-thaw crown cracking. East Hartford sits downwind of the Connecticut River valley, so chimneys get damp winters with repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Brick and mortar spall faster here than inland towns like Manchester, and cracked crowns let water run down onto firebox brick.
- Smoke chamber creosote buildup. In the 1920s brick chimneys throughout Burnside and Hockanum, first-degree creosote stacks up thickest in the smoke chamber, where most homeowners never look. A sweep that skips the smoke chamber leaves the most flammable material in place.
- Wrong brush on prefab liners. Post-war ranches in East Hartford often vent through factory-built fireplaces with uninsulated metal flues. A stiff rotary brush on a prefab or coated liner scuffs the surface instead of cleaning it and can void the manufacturer’s rating.
- Smoky startups on cold evenings. East Hartford’s river-valley air pressure shifts make cold-start backdrafting common in chimneys without a properly functioning damper or cap. We see it most on Naubuc Avenue and other Hockanum streets where homes hold heat differently at the roofline.
Pricing for Chimney Sweep in East Hartford, CT
A standard Chimney Sweep in East Hartford runs $180 to $340 for one flue, and $280 to $500 for two flues in the same visit. Level 2 camera inspections add $200 to $400. A crown rebuild typically lands between $600 and $1,200 depending on access and material. Flue relining starts around $2,500 and goes up with flue height and liner diameter.
What moves the number: creosote load, flue height, roof pitch, and whether you have a masonry or prefab liner. None of it gets sprung on you mid-job. FAQs About Chimney Sweep in East Hartford
Once a year if you burn wood regularly, and that’s the number we recommend to every East Hartford homeowner regardless of fuel type. If you burn more than two cords a season or use the fireplace four-plus nights a week, a mid-season sweep in January is worth adding. If you only burn occasionally in a prefab fireplace, every 18 to 24 months is defensible, but an annual camera check catches issues before they become repairs. Call (830) 251-4560 and we’ll tell you plainly what your chimney needs, based on what the camera shows.
We start with a Level 1 visual inspection of the firebox, damper, flue, crown, and cap, then run a camera up the full liner to document condition. Next we match the brush to your liner type, a poly brush for coated or prefab flues, a rotary brush for bare masonry, and sweep from firebox to cap. You get a photo report at the end showing what we found and what we did. The whole visit usually takes 60 to 90 minutes, and a chimney sweep in East Hartford runs $180 to $340 with the flat price set before we arrive.
Creosote is a flammable byproduct of wood combustion that condenses on flue walls as smoke cools, and in East Hartford’s older brick chimneys it builds thickest in the smoke chamber where airflow slows. First-degree creosote sweeps out with a brush; second-degree creosote, the flaky tar-like layer, takes scraping and sometimes a chemical treatment; third-degree glazed creosote can be hardened enough to require removal by a pro with specialized methods. We always show you the camera footage so you see exactly what we’re dealing with. Call (830) 251-4560 if you haven’t had a look in a year or more.
We don’t promise same-day service, and we won’t pretend to. A proper sweep in East Hartford means scheduling a window when we can get on the roof safely, run the camera, and do the job without rushing. Most East Hartford customers get a visit within 3 to 7 business days, sometimes sooner during spring and early fall. The urgency here is seasonal: book before burning season, not mid-January with a smoldering flue. Call (830) 251-4560 and the live person who answers will give you the next available window.
Cracked crowns and missing or damaged caps are the two most common exterior failures we see in East Hartford, driven by the town’s river-valley moisture and freeze-thaw cycles. A cracked crown lets water seep into the brick below, and a missing cap invites rain, animals, and downdrafts. Both are caught on a Level 1 inspection and confirmed with camera footage. Repairs are quoted in writing and covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise, one full year from the service date. Call (830) 251-4560 for a free estimate.
